Hey guys! So I was off-work yesterday and bored out of my skull, so I
decided to clean one of my parents' end tables. My dad, whose parents grew
up in the Depression, was raised to NEVER throw anything away. <shakes
head> So I was actually able to talk him into getting rid of his National
Geographic collection, which NOBODY had ever read. Ever. Anyways, amongst
the old crap, I found a book from the Minnesota State Fair from 1978. The
coming attractions were:

August 24: The Osmonds
August 25: Seals and Crofts
August 26: George Benson
August 27: The Captain and Tennille (looking VERY young in their picture)
August 28: Rich Little then Lynn Anderson (first I did a double take,
thinking they were performing TOGETHER)
August 29: Kenny Rogers and Dottie West
August 30: Dolly Parton then Eddie Rabbitt
August 31: Bob Hope then Rosemary Clooney
September 1: Helen Reddy
September 2: Pat and Debby Boone, then Ronnie Schell
September 3: Johnny Cash

And there you have it, folks. Coming attractions in 1978. Out of all those
performers, I'd see George Benson, definitely. Maybe Seals and Crofts, but
the rest....no WAY! :-) And WHO the heck is Ronnie Schell???

Evidently your buddy Cedeño is a bastard.
First of all, Cedeño is not my buddy.

Can you get me tickets to these shows?? I don't care a whole lot about
seeing Dolly or Rosemary tho. Have seen Kenny & Dottie several times. Well
at least I WILL have seen them but sometime in like 80 &/or 81. Only saw Big
John with The Highwaymen so it would be good to see him solo. So if you can
just get me these tickets & leave them at the will call window I will will
get into the Way Back Machine & see you there then!! If anybody else wants
to go I'll pick you up. It'll be good to visit 1978 for a while.

Yes, but what about Molly? How come Molly's not on this list?

I'd LOVE to see Johnny Cash--but alas, I'm afraid his touring days are
through. As for the rest...Seals and Crofts, maybe Dolly Parton (I saw
her live once, at a taping of her TV variety show, and I have to say,
she's a hell of a performer, even if her music isn't your cuppa tea),
maybe Helen Reddy (saw her live at a taping of the Carol Burnett Show--I
lived in LA, and TV tapings were always cheap entertainment--and even
though I liked her records, she was surprisingly bad onstage, painfully
awkward and stiff). Rosemary Clooney might be a hoot. As for the
rest...no, thank you!!

Alright, Honey, you've now motivated me to go buy us that Johnny Cash
boxed set, as well as that spiffy black shirt. And would you
reconsider seeing the Capt. & Tennille if they were to double bill
with Helen Reddy? That might be some good cheese! :-)

I'm also wondering why Bobby Dylan wasn't invited to perform??
